Encouraged & Ignited

1. What was the moment in your life that ignited your passion for prayer?

Time in childhood when I busted my lip and my father

prayed over me.

2. Why did you title your book Encourage & Ignited?

There was a moment ten years ago when I was at rock bottom

and it was through an encounter with the father during

prayer that I was encouraged to keep living and ignited to pray.

My heart’s passion is to now encourage others to pray and

ignite that same fervor for prayer within them.

3. When you wrote your book, who did you have in mind as your target audience?

All people! I feel like my book can be picked up by the unbeliever, and they will be encouraged and touched by the story of the power of prayer woven

throughout. I also believe that the information I provide in the book

provides connection points for those who have been in the church their

whole lives, but never really tapped into the power of intimate prayer for

their own lives.

4. What spurred you to write a book on prayer?

I know it is cliché, but it was the Lord. I was going in a different direction with my life

and doors were not opening for me. One day, I fell into my recliner and screamed out

to God asking him why he was not opening doors in the direction I felt he wanted me

to go. I heard him tell me to write a book. I laughed at the request and was reminded

of the story of Sarah in the bible when she was told she would bear a child in her old

age. As I began the journey of writing, I realized how much the story of prayer was

woven throughout my life. I was reminded of how often others would ask me how to

pray, when to pray, and what the bible had to say about prayer when I would share

my personal story. Most of those with questions that God placed within my path

were from lifelong churchgoers. If this was the majority of people God was having me

guide through prayer, I figured many others would benefit from what I have learned in

my time before the Lord in my prayer journey.

5. What questions does your book answer regarding prayer?

What does the bible say about prayer?

What did Jesus’ prayer life look like?

Why are my prayers not getting answered?

You’ll have to read the book to learn more. Gotta save some of the details for the

mystery to be revealed within the pages.

6. Why do you feel your message on prayer is important?

I believe prayer is a language all unto itself. I believe it is the thread that is woven

between all people on earth and the conduit of communication between us and the

God of all creation. It is a language of love that unites each of us with the lover of our

souls.

7. I hear you have a personalized T-shirt your mother and daughters made for you.

Yes, my mother and girls made me a T-shirt that says, “Prayer is my hobby”. I would

always joke that I did not have a hobby of piano, biking, or anything like that. One

day one of our girls said, “Prayer is your hobby, Mom.”. That has stuck because it is

true. Prayer truly is my hobby.

8. What is one of your favorite prayers of the bible?

I have a few, but my favorite that I say daily is the Lord’s Prayer.

9. How do you feel your readers will be encouraged when they finish your book?

I feel for the unchurched and those without a prayer life, it will create a spark for

prayer. For the churchgoer who has only known prayer around the dinner table and

bedsides, it will create a spark for a deeper, more personal prayer time with the Lord.

For the seasoned prayer warrior, it will be a refreshing encouragement that they are

on the right path and that the Word and Jesus’ own prayer life aligns with an avid,

intimate, and personal relationship with the God of creation through the avenue of prayer.
